Next steps for Single Gene Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

  1. Find a Natera partner IVF clinic. If you are already working with an IVF clinic that Natera is not currently working with, please send an email to info@genesecurity.net with the contact information of the clinic and the name of the doctor that you are working with. We are always interested in welcoming new clinics as partners.
  2. Ask your IVF physician for Natera testing. Once you are working with a partner IVF clinic, your doctor will send in a referral form and a copy of your familial mutation report to Natera. When the referral is received, your case will be assigned to a genetic counselor. The genetic counselor will contact you to explain the testing in detail and obtain any required family history information. Natera’s lab will review the mutation report and determine whether your case can be accepted. You and your IVF center will learn within 1-2 weeks whether testing can be designed, and what DNA samples are needed.
  3. Schedule a genetic counseling session. There is no cost for this consultation, and no commitment required to continue with Natera testing. This phone consultation is your opportunity to ask any technical questions you may have about Parental Support results and benefits compared to other available preimplantation genetic testing technologies.
  4. Look for your Natera parental sample collection kit.  If Natera determines that testing can be performed, a sample collection kit will be sent directly to you and any family members required to give samples. The kit is used to gather data from the egg and sperm contributors and their families. Once you have decided to proceed with testing, sign the included consent forms and submit samples requested by Natera.
  5. Wait for notification from Natera that your test development is complete. Test development takes 2-8 weeks from receipt of all samples. You should not start IVF medications prior to the test being ready. You and your IVF clinic will be contacted when test development is complete and you can begin your IVF cycle.
